Welcome! Let's learn how to talk about things that belong to us!
These show ownership.
The Golden Rule: They MUST be followed by a noun!
"This is my car."
These also show ownership, but they replace the noun.
The Golden Rule: They STAND ALONE. No noun after them!
"This car is mine."
Look at how the words change (most just add an 's'!):
| Adjective (Needs Noun) | Pronoun (Stands Alone) |
|---|---|
| my book | the book is mine |
| your book | the book is yours |
| his / her book | the book is his / hers |
| our book | the book is ours |
| their book | the book is theirs |
Look at the sentence. Is there a noun after the blank?
